Jeopardy! is set to get a pop culture spinoff for Amazon's streaming service, Variety reports.

Sony Pictures Studios announced plans for the upcoming Pop Culture Jeopardy! to stream on Prime Video, marking the first spin-off series created for a "major streaming service" since Sports Jeopardy! aired on the ad-supported on-demand Sony-owned platform Crackle from 2014 to 2016. The latest extension of the Jeopardy! franchise will follow a similar "answer-and-question" format to the iconic gameshow, but focus more on music, film, TV, stage, sports and more.

Pop Culture Jeopardy! is its own cultural moment, marking the first time the iconic franchise will premiere exclusively on a streaming service,” said Lauren Anderson, head of AVOD originals unscripted and targeted programming, Amazon MGM Studios, in a statement obtained by Variety. “With a team-based approach and pop-culture focus, our global Prime Video customers will exclusively experience this innovative spin on Jeopardy! while testing their knowledge on topics that both define and transcend generations.”

Pop Culture Jeopardy! hasn't yet named a host at the time of publication on Wednesday (May 15). The show will be produced by Jeopardy! executive producer Michael Davies.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to collaborate with our partners at Amazon to make Prime Video the home for our new Jeopardy! spinoff series,” said Suzanne Prete, president of game shows at Sony Pictures Television, via Variety. “With Michael Davies at the helm, Pop Culture Jeopardy! is going to be a nail biter for game show enthusiasts who can expect to see teams competing at the highest level of Jeopardy! combined with a fresh twist of pop culture Olympics for the mind…it’s going to be a must-watch for long-time viewers and new fans alike.”

Other prior Jeopardy! spinoffs included Rock & Roll Jeopardy!, which aired on VH1 from 1998 to 2001 and Jep!, a children's version of the iconic program airing on Game Show Network from 1998 to 2000.
